Passing the Board of Certification examination is how an athletic trainer earns the Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) credential. The Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) writes the exam, sets the eligibility rules, and publishes the official candidate materials at bocatc.org.
If you arrived here hunting a different credential: this is not the CDR sports dietetics exam, and it is not a hospital sterile-processing role. This page is for BOC candidates.
Where MasteryEngine stands today
Honesty first. MasteryEngine does not yet have an athletic training question bank, and there is no live AT readiness check; the athletic training bank is not live. The live program today is CSSD sports dietetics. We publish this guide now so BOC candidates can find the official sources in one place and see how our approach works while the AT bank is built.
The approach, briefly
On a live exam, you start with a Free Readiness Check: about 15 minutes, no credit card, and you leave knowing where you stand. Sprint then maps every domain on the exam, counting speed as well as accuracy, and Elite adds Clinical Sim for case decisions under pressure. All of this runs for CSSD today. An athletic training question bank would plug into the same system.
Eligibility belongs to BOC
BOC ties exam eligibility to completing a CAATE-accredited athletic training education program, confirmed by the recognized program director. The current BOC Candidate Handbook is the controlling document, and it is worth reading before anything else. We are independent of BOC, NATA, and CAATE, we cannot rule on your eligibility, and we do not guarantee a pass.
Common questions
What exam is this?
The Board of Certification examination for athletic trainers. Passing it, after meeting the eligibility rules, earns the Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) credential. Official information lives at bocatc.org.
Can I take a Free Readiness Check for athletic training here?
Not yet. The check runs on live question banks, and the athletic training bank is not live. Today it is available for CSSD sports dietetics.
Who decides if I am eligible?
BOC alone. The published requirements center on completing a CAATE-accredited program with confirmation from the recognized program director; the current Candidate Handbook carries the full list.
