There is one correct first step for BOC prep, and it does not involve us: get the current Practice Analysis from BOC. The Board of Certification publishes it as the blueprint and guide for the certification examination, and currently lists the Practice Analysis, 8th Edition (PA8) among its published editions. Confirm the current edition on bocatc.org, alongside the eligibility rules and candidate materials.

We intentionally do not restate that blueprint here. A paraphrase of the board would go stale the next time BOC revises it.

Check eligibility before you plan

BOC requires completion of a CAATE-accredited athletic training education program, confirmed by the recognized program director. The current Candidate Handbook carries the full list. We cannot waive a requirement or tell you that you qualify; only BOC can.

Study as measurement, not coverage

Reading the blueprint end to end feels productive and usually is not. Work domain by domain and ask a harder question: could I answer exam-style items from this domain today, accurately and at speed? Wherever the answer is no, you have found your study material.

What MasteryEngine adds on a live exam

When a bank is live, a Free Readiness Check turns that self-assessment into a real measurement: your exam readiness in about 15 minutes, free. Sprint keeps measuring across the whole blueprint with a mastery heatmap that treats slow-but-correct as a gap, because exam-day performance is speed as much as knowledge.

For athletic training, that map is not live yet. CSSD sports dietetics is the live program, and this guide exists so BOC candidates can see the approach before the bank arrives. We do not predict BOC scores, and we do not guarantee a pass.

Common questions

Who owns the official athletic training blueprint?

BOC. The Practice Analysis is the blueprint and guide for the certification examination; confirm the current edition on bocatc.org.

Is there a MasteryEngine athletic training question bank?

Not yet; the bank is not live. CSSD sports dietetics is the live program, and these pages are the public athletic training guide.

How should I use the Practice Analysis?

As a checklist. For each domain, test whether you can answer accurately and quickly today, and study wherever you cannot.

Live program
