Every serious CSSD study plan starts at the same address. The Commission on Dietetic Registration publishes the Sports Dietetics Content Outline, the reference list, the eligibility rules, the fees, and the examination dates, and those documents are the exam. We deliberately do not copy them here: a paraphrase of the board goes stale the day CDR revises it.

Confirm eligibility before you invest

Check the entry rules before you commit weeks of study. CDR currently requires:

  • current RD status, held for at least two years from the original examination date
  • 2,000 hours of sports dietetics practice as an RD within the past five years for initial certification
  • 1,500 hours in the same window for recertification, with qualifying education and professional experiences able to substitute for up to 500 hours

Read the current list on CDR's eligibility page. We cannot waive a requirement or promise that you qualify.

Turn the outline into a checklist

Treat the Sports Dietetics Content Outline as a checklist rather than a reading list. For each domain, the question is not whether you have studied it; it is whether you could answer exam-style questions from it accurately and quickly today. The distance between those two answers is your actual study plan.

Where MasteryEngine fits

The Free Readiness Check gives you your first measurement: your exam readiness, in about 15 minutes, free. Ten daily readiness questions keep it current while you work through the outline.

Sprint extends that to every domain on the exam. It counts speed as well as accuracy, so a right answer that took you too long still shows up as a gap. Elite adds Clinical Sim for case decisions under pressure, for when recall stops being the hard part.

We do not predict CDR scores and we do not guarantee a pass. We show you what remains, so your study hours land where they matter.

Common questions

Who owns the official CSSD study outline?

CDR. The Sports Dietetics Content Outline, reference list, eligibility rules, fees, and dates are all published by the Commission on Dietetic Registration on cdrnet.org.

What does MasteryEngine add to that outline?

Measurement. The outline tells you what the exam covers; the readiness check and the Sprint heatmap tell you which of those domains you can already handle and which still need work.

What are the current CDR eligibility hours?

2,000 hours of sports dietetics practice as an RD within the past five years for initial certification, or 1,500 for recertification, with up to 500 hours coverable by qualifying education and professional experience. Confirm the current numbers with CDR.
